  1. Using the Compucom Speedmodem with SPITFIRE 3.0 BBS Software:

  3. This is by no means a technical document on all the different ways to
  4. initialize your CompuCom Speedmodem for SPITFIRE, but a SIMPLE guide.

  6. oo ..Be sure the Speedmodem ROM version is at least 2.51. Type ATI3...
  7. \/ ..from any communications program in TERMINAL mode for results...

  76.    ..When using a long distance carrier with the Speedmodem...
  77.    ..call your LD customer service and ask if a "carrier code"...
  78.    ..is needed for proper "bandwidth" on "asynchronous" connections...

  80. oo ..An example where this code is needed is the US Sprint...
  81. \/ ..FIBER OPTIC NETWORK, to access a ""full-bandwidth" line...
  82.    ..the code 10333 is needed, that is dial 10333-1-800-000-0000...
  83.    ..this ensures that the FULL bandwidth is available to you...
  84.    ..otherwise, a sudden "No carrier" can result...

  86. This by no means covers all the ways to use SPITFIRE with a Compucom 
  87. Speedmodem.  But it should help you initially (pun?).  If all else 
  88. fails, don't forget to read the doc's!
